Little birds love nesting in flocks—not just for safety, but because they genuinely enjoy hanging out together. Make it easy for them by setting up 3 Bungalows about 1-2 meters apart, and you’ll have your own little bird community. Plus, with our multi-buy offer, you’ll save some money while you’re at it!
The Terrace bundle gives you 3 of our Bungalows, the perfect cozy nest box for the tiniest birds. These are some of our most popular designs and a great way to start attracting birdlife to your space.
Each Bungalow has a snug cavity made from raw native timber, reflecting a natural habitat, and a perfectly sized entrance—big enough for small birds but too small for bigger birds or nest raiders.
For the best chance of welcoming some cute new neighbors, place the Bungalows close to a feeder in a quiet spot with less foot traffic. Make sure they’re at least 1.8 meters off the ground to stay out of reach of curious cats. A spot under the south-facing eaves is a favorite, providing shade and a safe, cozy hideaway. With our multi-buy option, you can space them about a meter apart and create your own little bird community!
We design our nest boxes using research from ornithologists, universities, and conservation centers in Aotearoa and beyond, making them as bird-friendly and predator-proof as possible. Want to learn more about the features? Check them out here!
And while these boxes are designed for specific small species, birds can be unpredictable, and you might find a surprise guest moves in! Whoever shows up, enjoy watching them, nurture them, and feel the joy when the little ones finally take their first wobbly flights
The Terrace
Our nest boxes are made from natural, rough-sawn macrocarpa timber, so no two are exactly alike. You’ll see unique grain patterns, textures, knots, and color variations that add to their charm. We keep the rough-sawn finish unsanded to a create a natural feel and a cozy spot for the birds. This does mean the surface might feel a bit rough or uneven, but that’s all part of the rustic appeal if you happen to have feathers.
Macrocarpa is super durable outdoors, but over time, it may weather with some surface splits and a shift in color to a beautiful silver-grey. It’s all part of nature doing its thing!
